Preferred Care at Home of Greater Huntsville is seeking a dependable and experienced On-Call Caregiver to support clients throughout Huntsville and the surrounding areas. This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, adaptable, and ready to step in on short notice to ensure continuity of care.

Position Overview:
This on-call/float role requires stable availability Monday through Friday, with weekly hours typically ranging from 32–40 hours. Caregivers will travel to various client locations and quickly adjust to new environments while delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on caregiving support in a variety of home settings
• Step in for last-minute or short-notice assignments
• Ensure continuity of care and meet clients’ daily living needs
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and office staff
• Adapt quickly to different care plans and environments

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of caregiving experience or active CNA certification
• Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel within the Huntsville and all surrounding areas
• Must be Comfortable working in homes with pets
• Strong communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
• Must be comfortable with a background screening
• Must be available for stable on-going Monday-Friday Daytime Schedule
• Must have hands-on experience and be comfortable with mobility assistance and personal care, including wheelchair transfers, Hoyer lift operation, gait belt use, Barton chair, total/bedbound care, catheter care etc.
• Must be able to assist with mobility, provide personal care, lift over 25 lbs, and stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
