Sports Ministry Director

Description:
The Sports Ministry will be a major outreach strategy for Rocky. We expect it to demonstrate annually an increase in effectiveness of reaching unchurched people. These programs will focus on developing the total athlete in both skills and sports knowledge as well as strong character.

Supervisor: Executive Pastor

Essential Duties:

• Lead a staff and volunteer team who are passionate about the sport, kids, and doing tasks with excellence
• Lead staff/volunteers to: recruit, train, schedule, manage, communicate with, and encourage volunteer leaders
• Strive for excellence in teaching the sports skills required through proper training and equipping of volunteer leaders, coaches, and referees
• Partner with other community organizations
• Plan and coordinate with Rockys site service team on building use and security
• Oversee the planning and executing of a winter community basketball league.
• Oversee the planning and execution of summer basketball camps (three camps including two basketball and one cheer)
• Develop and maintain budgets for Sports Ministry
• Establish and expand promotion and coordination of sports and recreational outreach that takes place inside and outside of Rocky
• Ensuring that the Sports Ministry is accomplishing our mission of helping people Know Jesus and Love Like Him
• Other related duties as assigned
  

Qualifications:

• Experience working with children
• Experience managing a large sports program
• Exceptional verbal/written communication skills
• People First attitude and experience with conflict resolution
• Positive, professional, self-starter who possesses the ability to organize, multi-task, adjust and prioritize responsibilities with minimal direction and supervision in a rapidly changing environment
• Attention to detail and excellence
• Ability to handle/maintain confidential information, with discretion, diplomacy and tact
• Possess the ability to build, lead and manage large teams
• Spiritual

Physical Demands of Job:

• Sit/stand for long periods of time
• Occasionally kneel, crouch, or climb ladders
• Frequent lifting/moving up to 50 lbs
