This full-time contract opportunity provides the chance to teach in substantially separate classrooms for K-1st and 3rd-5th grade students, located in the heart of the scenic Berkshires. The role focuses on delivering highly personalized instruction, collaborating closely with a dedicated team, and providing holistic care that addresses each child's unique needs.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience in substantially separate classroom settings strongly preferred
- Proficiency with specially designed instruction and applied behavior analysis preferred
- Background working with students exhibiting a range of abilities, including those on the autism spectrum and non-verbal learners
- Ability to manage and support toileting needs and physical care for students
- Excellent skills in teamwork and communication with colleagues, therapists, and families
- Commitment to fostering a compassionate, inclusive classroom culture
- Open to working onsite only; travel professionals are encouraged to apply
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse support needs
- Deliver engaging, adapted curriculum using evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies
- Provide supportive care, including managing physical and personal hygiene needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, RBTs, related services staff, and administration for comprehensive student support
- Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and needs
