POSITION SUMMARY:
To ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have opportunities to actively participate in all aspects of community based and integration supports for the developmental disabilities waiver.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitor individuals to ensure safety regarding medical, health, behavioral, and environmental issues.
2. Assist with daily living skills (e.g., lifting, transferring, toileting, personal hygiene, laundry, cooking etc.).
3. Assist in budget development, monetary transactions, and teaching of use of money with individuals personal use funds as they are needed.
4. Implement Person Centered Plans, Outcomes, Goals, and Strategies. 5. Complete paperwork as assigned, include routine drills such as Fire Drills 6. Assist with banking and budgeting and assist with shopping, when
applicable.
7. Plan, assist, and participate in community inclusive outings with
individuals (e.g., visiting family, friends, church/temple, shopping etc.).
8. Assist the individuals with recreational, cultural and vacation plans of their choice.
9. Maintain living environment in accordance with Code of Maryland
Regulations (COMAR) and health department standards.
10. Administer and record medications pursuant to State and Agency
requirements, when applicable.
11. Accompany individuals on medical appointments and emergencies as
needed.
12. Maintain responsibility for all assigned sites.
13. Communicate with and update the Coordinators/ Program Managers and or Residential Manager on a regular basis.
14. Attend all meetings and in-services as requested by supervisor.
15. Work with individuals as assigned by supervisor.
16. Complete all agency required trainings for position.
17. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Direct Support Professional
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma
• 1-year related experience preferred.
• Must be able to work independently.
• CPR & First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens
• DDA DSP Certifications for Maryland
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Must assist with daily living skills (e.g., lifting, transferring, toileting,
personal hygiene, laundry, and cooking).
• May be required to lift /assist in transferring individuals.
• Must be available in emergency situations as the need arises.
• State issued driver’s license required and approved clean driving record necessary.
