Position Summary:
Continuous Composites is a world leader in advanced manufacturing technologies primarily related to advanced composites. The Department of War (DoW) and companies engaged in DoW work support many of our projects.
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a strong technical background in high temperature composites and hypersonic applications to lead process development, and program execution for DoW programs where the goal is to utilize CF3D technology to produce components for use in weapons systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Serve as technical lead for Continuous Composites programs involving weapons systems.
- Customer Collaboration: Collaborate with customers, including DoW government sponsors and prime contractors.
- Technical Scoping: Review project and customer goals, develop technical requirements, identify relevant trade studies, assess technical risks, and establish risk mitigation plans.
- Project Planning: Work with project managers to develop and maintain detailed project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Solution Development: Lead internal and external resources to design and develop CF3D solutions that satisfy customer requirements. Produce reports that bring together concept definitions, requirements, verification test plans and methods, analysis results, and technical recommendations.
- Design Reviews: Lead the design review process and establish technical maturity milestones and qualification tests, ensuring programs progress through the required DoW Technology Readiness and Manufacturing Readiness Levels.
- Industry Best Practices: Collaborate with senior technical experts to establish technical standards to achieve technical excellence in the organization. Maintain technical documentation around best practices.
- DoW Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant DoW regulations, standards, and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant technical role, specializing in weapons system development.
- Experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
- DoW development program experience, including customer interface, requirements development, test planning, execution, understanding of Technology Readiness Levels and Manufacturing Readiness Levels and their relevance.
- Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to synthesize and summarize complex technical information.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to drive technical results in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Proven history of solving complex customer problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in engineering.
- Familiarity with carbon fiber materials, resin systems, and advanced additive manufacturing processes for aerospace applications, including knowledge of end use designs.
