The Commercial Bailer and Compactor Service Technician is responsible for the field service, repair, maintenance, installation and removal (uninstall) of this type of recycling equipment. We are not trash people, but it is a dirty job at times.

This is a 1099 position. Candidate will need to provide service truck or van along with proper tools for the job.

The candidate must be safety minded, mechanically inclined, some welding experience is certainly a plus along with fork truck experience, strong electrical (3 phase – controls are single phase) and hydraulic skills, troubleshooting skills, dedicated to providing high-quality customer service skills, and meticulous record keeping.

This role involves being able to work independently, requiring professional communication with the client and our internal team. At times you will be provided with an assistant as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to perform installations, removals, repairs, scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs. Communicate clearly and effectively with the customer and the internal team to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Diagnose/resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues on single/three phase units.

Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints to aid in troubleshooting & repair.

Perform preventative maintenance inspections to minimize downtime for the customer.

Complete all necessary documentation, including service reports, work orders, parts usage, in an accurate and timely manner. Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.

Not a requirement but certainly a plus, perform welding and fabrication work, on-site, as needed for repairs and modifications.

Maintain your vehicle in a clean, organized, professional manner with your necessary tools and parts.

Skills and Qualifications

One-year proven experience in diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment, preferably with compactors, bailers, or other heavy waste equipment.

Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Knowledge of high voltage (208V, 460/480V, 120V) is a major plus.

Experience with welding (stick/MIG) and operating an oxygen/acetylene torch is desirable.

Need good analytical and diagnostic abilities to troubleshoot complex issues.

Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, including heavy lifting and working sometimes in diverse weather conditions.

Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. A commercial driver's license (CDL) would certainly be a plus.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective customer service and accurate reporting.

Need to have a strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to the task to ensure that excellence, quality and safety is always at an exceptional level.

Work Environment

This is a field service position that requires daily travel to various customer locations.

Work involves exposure to varied environmental conditions including noise, fumes and all-weather conditions. This is a dirty job at times.

Compliance with safety procedures is mandatory due to meeting company policy procedures and contractual requirements with the client.

Educational Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.

Technical diploma, certification in electrical/hydraulic repair or vocational training mechanics or industrial maintenance is certainly a plus.
