WC Smith has an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to lead the team at The Collective. The Collective is a collection of properties, including Park Chelsea, The Garrett, and The Agora, in the Capitol Riverfront/Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Reporting to the property's Assistant Vice President, the leader in this role will directly manage all three buildings, totaling about 1100 apartment units. The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Collective, including but not limited to management, operations, and resident satisfaction.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead on-site operations, including​​ leasing, maintenance, vendor management​​, and resident services.
  • Hire, train, and lead on-site team members, including Property Managers, Leasing Consultants, and Maintenance teams.
  • Manage the annual budgets of the various buildings.
  • Drive occupancy and revenue by overseeing leasing operations, renewals, and pricing.
  • Engage the teams to ensure timely rent collections.
  • Monitor and report on property performance metrics regularly.
  • Handle complex resident concerns and escalations professionally.
  • Oversee contracts and vendor relationships
  • Foster a customer-focused team

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Prior experience as a General Apartment Manager is required.
  • At least five years of residential property management experience is required.
  • Proven track record of managing a team and achieving occupancy, revenue, and expense targets.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to coach and engage high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in property management software experience is required, with Yardi experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive resident issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to comfortably multitask.
  • Prior experience reading and interpreting financial statements, budgets, and leasing reports.
  • Previous lease-up experience would be helpful.
  • CAM or ARM certifications would be helpful, but not required.
