Position Summary:
Were building a culture of strong project leadership across NewSpring and need someone who can both do the work and raise the bar. The Strategic Project Manager, PMO will lead complex cross-functional initiatives and play a key role in building systems that support better decision-making, consistent methodology, and organizational visibility.
This person will work closely with the Learning & Innovation Director to implement unified project management practices, support embedded PMs through coaching and training, and provide visibility into project selection and prioritization for senior leaders. Over time, this role will grow into a PMO leadership voice, helping shape how we plan, deliver, and measure strategic work.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead large-scale, cross-functional projects. Manage strategic initiatives, campaigns, and organizational rollouts from planning to closeout.
- Unify project methodology across teams. Support the rollout of consistent project lifecycle tools, workflows, and templates.
- Coach and support embedded project managers. Build trust, offer peer development, model best practices, and raise the standard of project execution across departments.
- Improve visibility into project selection and prioritization. Score and evaluate projects based on strategic alignment and capacity, helping leaders make informed decisions.
- Facilitate PMO operations and communication rhythms. Co-lead the Project Management Meeting (PMM), contribute to project intake, and maintain portfolio visibility.
- Champion use PMIS (Wrike) and creative planning tools. Promote Wrike as the system of record and use tools like Miro to lead collaborative planning sessions.
- Deliver data-informed recommendations to leadership. Help surface insights on project performance, capacity, and resourcing through dashboards and PMIS data.
- Adhere to and encompass the qualities and characteristics required of NewSpring Church staff members, as defined by the Policies and Procedures Handbook.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- 57 years leading cross-functional projects, ideally in matrixed environments
- Deep familiarity with project lifecycle tools, methods, and communication rhythms
- Strong relational EQ, able to build trust across diverse teams
- Skilled in workshop facilitation (remote and in-person)
- Experience using project tools like Wrike, Asana, or similar
- Able to balance structure with flexibility in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Preferred:
- PMP or comparable certification
- Experience building or maturing PMOs
- Familiarity with Miro, Google Workspace, and dashboard tools
- Background in coaching or training PMs
