Mission and Purpose

The Network and Cloud Engineer plays a critical role ensuring our client's environment is secure and optimized. The Network and Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of robust and secure network infrastructures, including both on-site and cloud-integrated environments. This individual will be responsible for designing, planning, and integrating advanced cloud computing and virtualization systems to meet current and future business needs. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructures including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and SD-Branch environments.
- Manage and support network hardware and software across various vendor platforms including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Juniper Networks.
- Monitor network performance and implement improvements to ensure high availability, security, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues and outages in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with security and systems teams to ensure integrated, compliant, and resilient network architecture.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic upgrades to maintain modern, efficient systems.
- Support compliance and reporting requirements relevant to the federal agency environment.
- Design and implement scalable and secure cloud architecture solutions that align with business requirements and future capacity planning.
- Provide detailed guidance and recommendations on cloud hardware and software selection, service provider selection, and integration methodologies.
- Lead application and data migration efforts to cloud environments using industry-leading techniques and tools.
- Maintain deep technical expertise in cloud and virtualization technologies, including but not limited to:
- Cloud service provider platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Cloud deployment models: public, private, community, and hybrid
- Cloud delivery models: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
- Virtualization technologies such as hypervisors, containers, virtual networks, compute, and storage
- Infrastructure automation, self-provisioning systems, and dynamic scaling
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to enhance the capabilities, efficiency, and security of cloud-based and virtualized services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure architecture aligns with enterprise goals and regulatory standards.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of senior level experience as Network Engineer, Cloud Architect or related cloud engineering role.
- Proven experience with a variety of network types and architectures including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and SD-Branch.
- Proven experience with major cloud service providers and virtualization tools.
- Hands-on experience with major network device vendors, including but not limited to Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Juniper Networks.
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Relevant industry certifications are preferred (e.g., CCNP, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, JNCIS/JNCIP, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and communication skills.
- Experience in federal government or high-security environment is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be a US Citizen.
