Geotemps, Inc. is seeking a junior geologist to participate in a Iandaho field program. The program involves soil sampling and geological mapping and is scheduled to start in mid-late April. The position is based in Salmon, ID.

Key Responsibilities
- Detailed geologic field mapping
- Rock, soil, and surface sampling
- Accurate field data collection and documentation
- Data compilation and organization of geological datasets
- Map creation and updating using GIS software
- Sample management and QAQC oversight
- Daily field reporting
- GPS-based navigation
- Supporting exploration targeting through field observations
- Adherence to all company and regulatory safety protocols
Physical and Field Requirements
Candidates must be able to safely perform the physical demands of the role, including:
- Hiking long distances over rough, uneven terrain
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Digging and manual sample collection
- Working extended days outdoors in variable weather
- Potential multi-day tent or RV camping
- Operating safely and efficiently in remote environments
- Comfortable working at high altitudes ~7000 ft
Work Schedule and Hours
- 14 work days, 2 travel days / 9-day off schedule
- Roughly 80% fieldwork and 20% office/data tasks
- Ability to travel to Salmon, Idaho, at the beginning of each work rotation. (Travel expenses will be covered)
Required Qualifications
- BSc in Geology or currently enrolled in a geology degree program
- Strong understanding of core geological principles, including mineralogy and structural geology
- Ability to identify and describe rocks and alteration in the field
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
Licenses, Certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to operate 4x4 vehicles on rough roads
Medical and Fitness Screening
- Pre-employment physical confirming fitness for manual fieldwork. (general health, vision, hearing, musculoskeletal, spirometry, 50-pound lifting)
- Drug and alcohol screening
- Background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ArcGIS or QGIS
- Prior field mapping or mineral exploration experience
- Familiarity with handheld GPS units and digital data collection tools
- Familiarity with first aid desired but not essential
- Familiarity with UTV driving desired but not essential
