Project Scheduler
BB&E is an employee-owned full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.
Position Summary
BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Scheduler to join our team to provide project delivery business process support services to the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Caribbean District (South Atlantic Division [SAA]) in Puerto Rico which is responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of Civil Works, Military and Interagency and International Support (IIS) Projects throughout the Caribbean region. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain accurate schedules, identify and communicate schedule impacts, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet critical project milestones.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Schedule Development
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to develop detailed project schedules
- Break down project scopes into manageable tasks, timelines, and resource allocations
- Utilize Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project to create and update project schedules
- Schedule Monitoring & Updates
- Collect, verify, and input project progress data to ensure schedules remain accurate and up-to-date
- Analyze and adjust project schedules to reflect any delays, changes, or scope adjustments
- Communicate schedule changes and their impacts to stakeholders promptly and effectively
- Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct schedule risk analysis to anticipate and mitigate potential delays
- Generate detailed reports, including variance analysis, critical path assessments, and progress updates, for stakeholders and leadership
- Support project teams with tools and insights for schedule optimization and resource balancing
- Collaboration & Communication
- Facilitate meetings with team members to review schedule progress and resolve conflicts
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project timelines
- Serve as a liaison between the scheduling team and project management teams
Key Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and theability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
- Certification in project scheduling, such as PMI-SP (Project Management Institute Scheduling Professional) or AACE International’s Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) is preferred
- Availability for occasional travel to project sites in the Caribbean region as needed
- Knowledge and Skills
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles is a plus
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish to enhance collaboration with diverse teams in the Caribbean region is preferred
- Software: Proficiency using Primavera P6 and MS Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project is required
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience & Education
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years in a similar scheduling or project controls role with demonstrated expertise in developing and managing complex schedules for civil engineering, construction, or military projects is required; experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or similar federal agencies is preferred
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an ABET accredited university is required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
- Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
