What You’ll Do
As a Senior Custom Millwork Engineer, you’ll be an expert in producing 3D models for complex and challenging products. This coach/player position will drive high-quality deliverables designed to optimize company throughput and contribution margin. You’ll use your engineering experience to create 3D models in Solidworks, Swood, or other 3D modeling programs, create associated documents, and release them for fabrication.
Coordination with Drafting, Project Management, and Production is crucial to push projects forward while meeting budgets and schedules. Your key responsibilities will include:

Be an expert within a department of 3-5 engineers responsible for the development of 3D models for complex millwork items and create associated documentation.

Hone the skills of others in the department with coaching/training and education.

Assist the Engineering Manager with scheduling custom millwork work orders as they arrive.

Conduct periodic audits of our standards, practices, and libraries to keep them current.

Assist the Engineering Manager in developing our ability to outsource complex 3D models for either submittals or production.

Develop a strong relationship with the Quality Control Coordinator to ensure interdepartmental communication.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
A successful candidate will value urgency and streamlined coordination as measured by:

You will be expected to process workorders that will have an approximate revenue level of $6M. As Senior Engineer, your expectation is higher.

Contribution to gross margin via efficient processing of work orders. This will be tracked by using estimated/planned hours vs. actual hours.

Number of shop issues experienced post engineering.

Ability to increase the department’s output via efficiency and developing successful outsourcing agreements.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Minimum of 6-8 years’ 3D modeling experience in the millwork industry.

Ability to handle complex engineering of custom millwork items and communicate its construction via drawings and reports generated by software.

Working knowledge & experience of material, machine, and tool limitations.

Experience in collaborating with PM’s and Production Managers to solve problems. Be solutions oriented.

Be inspirational to others around you. Lead by example.

Experience with Solidworks and Swood is preferred. Experience with other modeling programs such as Rhino is a plus.

Knowledge of AWI standards and specifications.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.).

Knowledge of Innergy is beneficial.
