The Structures Mechanic specializes in aircraft sheet metal and structural maintenance, supporting KC-135 aircraft at Fairchild AFB, WA. This role involves inspection, repair, troubleshooting, modification, and documentation tasks essential for maintaining aircraft integrity and function.

Responsibilities

  • Perform KC-135 aircraft structural maintenance, including sheet metal repair, inspection, troubleshooting, modification, and documentation.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and modify aircraft structures and components using approved technical data.
  • Execute sheet metal layout, drilling, riveting, fastening, trimming, fitting, and other structural repair tasks.
  • Support activities related to corrosion identification, prevention, treatment, and repair.
  • Interpret and apply technical orders, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, work instructions, and other approved technical data.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flight, thru-flight, post-flight, and inspection tasks.
  • Utilize aircraft maintenance tools and equipment such as torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, sheet metal brakes, shears, drills, and rivet equipment.
  • Document maintenance actions in aircraft forms, records, logs, and Government maintenance systems.
  • Comply with tool control, FOD prevention, safety, quality, security, and local operating requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance or on-the-job training to less experienced mechanics.
  • Support TDY maintenance operations at other KC-135 locations as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of three years of aircraft maintenance experience on military heavy aircraft is required.
  • Experience with aircraft sheet metal, structural repair, modification, inspection, and corrosion-related tasks.
  • Proficiency in using aircraft technical orders, drawings, blueprints, and maintenance documentation.
  • Active Secret security clearance or eligibility for Interim clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required per government and program requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with USAF KC-135 highly preferred; experience with C-5, C-17, C-130 can be applicable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fairchild Air Force Base, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $82326.00 - $82326.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

• Aircraft Mechanic II base wage: $39.58/hr• SCA Health & Welfare: $5.09/hr for up to 40 hours per week• Total compensation value: $44.67/hr = $39.58 base wage + $5.09 H&W• How H&W is used: The $5.09/hr can be applied toward both the employer and employee cost of elected eligible benefits• If benefits cost less than the available H&W: The remaining balance is paid to the employee through payroll as taxable compensation• If the employee waives eligible benefits: The employee can receive the full $5.09/hr H&W through payroll• If elected benefits cost more than the available H&W: The employee is responsible for the excess cost• Medical option: Preferred Plan with a $3,500 deductible, plus available voluntary/add-on benefits• Tuition assistance: Available with manager approval
