Position Summary:

The QEC Specialist is responsible for the detailed cleaning, inspection, and preparation of Quick Engine Component (QEC) assemblies and individual aircraft engine components. This role ensures all parts meet FAA, EASA, OEM, and LCI quality standards to support repair and overhaul processes. The QEC Specialist plays a critical part in maintaining workflow efficiency, traceability, and component integrity within the QEC department.

Key Responsibilities:

Component Cleaning & Preparation

  • Perform cleaning of QEC assemblies and engine parts using approved methods (solvent cleaning, ultrasonic tanks, media blasting, hand tools, etc.).
  • Follow detailed work instructions, OEM guidelines, and controlled processes to ensure proper treatment of each component.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify contamination, corrosion, or damage before and after cleaning.
  • Prepare parts for downstream inspection, repair, or assembly processes.

Documentation & Quality Compliance

  • Complete all required documentation, cleaning logs, tags, and inspection forms with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ensure full part traceability through proper labeling, tagging, and workflow tracking.
  • Comply with FAA, EASA, OEM, and internal quality standards.
  • Report any non-conformances, discrepancies, or damage to the QEC Lead or Quality Department.

Safety & Environmental Standards

  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous chemicals and cleaning agents according to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Wear always required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment following 5S principles.
  • Follow all LCI safety procedures and participate in safety inspections and audits as required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Quality, Production, Inventory and Warehouse, and other operational teams to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Support the QEC Lead in meeting daily production goals and turnaround times.
  • Communicate part status, delays, or equipment issues promptly.

Equipment & Area Maintenance

  • Ensure proper use and basic upkeep of cleaning tools, ultrasonic tanks, blasting equipment, and inspection lighting.
  • Notify leadership of equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, or industrial cleaning preferred.
  • Basic understanding of aircraft engine components or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, safety data sheets (SDS), and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work safely with chemicals and PPE.
  • Basic computer literacy; ability to follow digital work instructions.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
