Registered Nurse – Clinical Applications Specialist / Informatics
Location:

Pay Range - $87,000.00 to $100,000 Yearly
Job Summary:
-
Train and support users of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and ancillary clinical systems.
-
Configure and optimize clinical content in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
-
Evaluate and improve clinical and operational processes to align with best practices.
-
Collaborate with IT staff, clinical teams, and vendors across SEARHC.
Key Essential Functions & Accountabilities:Clinical Application Maintenance & Support:
-
Maintain clinical applications in coordination with Clinical Application Coordinators and IT staff.
-
Manage user access and permissions within specific clinical applications.
-
Continuously assess clinical content and decision-support tools; implement improvements.
-
Update applications with new:
-
Lab and radiology tests
-
Medications and immunizations
-
Diagnosis and procedure codes
-
-
Evaluate and align clinical processes across SEARHC clinics.
Training & Education:
-
Train staff at all levels using various methods:
-
Classroom sessions
-
One-on-one mentoring
-
Remote shadowing
-
Web conferencing
-
Live interactive video
-
-
Develop and maintain user training materials and documentation.
-
Assist in system implementations and go-live events.
Issue Triage & Collaboration:
-
Triage user issues and escalate to appropriate subject matter experts, including:
-
Help Desk
-
PC Technicians
-
Network Administrators
-
Coders
-
Medical Directors
-
Nursing staff
-
-
Collaborate with IT, clinical teams, and vendors to resolve workflow or system issues.
Other Responsibilities:
-
Support accreditation and compliance requirements through system optimization.
-
Participate in department or consortium projects as assigned.
-
Work outside regular hours for implementation, upgrades, or issue resolution.
Education, Certifications & Licenses:
-
BSN preferred; advanced degrees may substitute for experience on a year-by-year basis.
-
Active RN license in Alaska or other U.S. state required:
-
Direct hire must apply for Alaska RN license before start date.
-
Agency staff must hold an active Alaska RN license.
-

Clinical Informatics training preferred.
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Required:
-
Minimum 5 years in a medical setting; clinical experience preferred.
-
Minimum 2 years working with clinical information systems.
-
Minimum 1 year experience with computer technology (programming, installation, report generation, or network/hardware work).
-
Inpatient clinical experience preferred.
-
Teaching or training experience preferred.
-
Experience with hospital/clinic accreditation processes preferred.
-
Experience with HL7 messaging preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of:

Clinical information systems and healthcare IT systems.
-
Scheduling, radiology, laboratory, and document scanning systems.
-
Medical standards of care and best practices in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Skills in:

Travel across SEARHC sites and attend professional development sessions.

Work outside regular hours as needed; manage stressful project deadlines.
Travel Requirements:

Travel approximately 10% of the time.
-
Modes of travel include jet, small aircraft, and ferry.
Physical Demands:

Frequent talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, and hand/arm use.

Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Required Certifications:

Registered Nurse License – State of Alaska – Alaska State Board of Nursing
