An established law firm in the Columbia area seeks a legal administrator/legal assistant to join their dedicated team to help with administrative work. This is a unique temporary-to-permanent opportunity! You will support a practice focused on family, criminal, and personal injury law practice.
Your Impactful Role as a Legal Assistant:
- Word processing, transcribing dictation, and finalizing correspondence and documents
- Manage calendars
- Provide administrative support to ensure a smooth daily workflow in order to meet project deadlines. This includes word processing, photocopying and scanning, processing of mail and performance of other clerical duties
- Create, edit, and proofread legal documents, forms, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Reviews, sorts and dates mail, maintains files
- Answers, screens, and directs telephone calls appropriately
- May assist paralegals and attorneys with various tasks
What You Bring:
- Experience in the legal field as a legal secretary or an administrative assistant in a law firm preferred, otherwise must have office administrative experience
- Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and Excel
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Self-starter with superb organization and communication skills
- Ability to use discretion when working with sensitive topics/clients
- Proficient in Electronic/E-filing in both Federal (PACER) and state court.
- Experience with legal time & billing systems (Clio preferred)
