American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 1+ years of experience for a 13-week night shift inpatient hospital position.

- Inpatient Respiratory Therapy unit within a hospital setting
- Night shift, 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM
- 36 hours per week, 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts
- Rotating weekend shifts
- Rotating holiday shifts
- EPIC charting experience required

Requirements\n
- \n
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Certificate in Respiratory Therapy
- Minimum 1 year of experience in respiratory therapy, ventilator management, EKG, oxygen administration, and airway management
- Basic knowledge of pulmonary and cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (American Heart Association)
- RRT credential (NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist)
- Illinois RCP license required if applicable
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Experience with EPIC charting system

- Provide comprehensive respiratory care under the guidance of a physician and Director of Respiratory Therapy
- Administer oxygen mixtures using various delivery devices and set up, initiate, and maintain ventilators and CPAP devices
- Assist with intubation and provide airway maintenance, endotracheal and tracheostomy care, as well as extubation care
- Initiate and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life support procedures
- Confer with physicians on patient care and carry out physician orders, including administering respiratory medications
- Recognize and record signs and symptoms of medication side effects
- Use equipment for positive pressure delivery, humidification, nebulization, and medication administration
- Perform bronchial secretion removal techniques including postural drainage, chest percussion, and airway suctioning
- Perform pulmonary function testing and operate pulmonary function equipment (if trained)
- Perform and prepare 12-lead EKGs for physician interpretation
- Oversee certified and non-certified technicians performing procedures requiring specialized expertise as needed
- Assemble, disassemble, and safely handle respiratory therapy equipment
- Provide age-specific patient care, adjusting clinical approach based on individual patient needs
- Work independently and supervise shift needs as required
- Perform arterial punctures and arterial line draws per guidelines and competencies
- Set up BiPAP and Optiflow devices and evaluate patient response to therapy
- RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
