Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 1+ years of experience for a 13-week night shift inpatient hospital position.

  • Inpatient Respiratory Therapy unit within a hospital setting
  • \n

  • Night shift, 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM
  • \n

  • 36 hours per week, 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts
  • \n

  • Rotating weekend shifts
  • \n

  • Rotating holiday shifts
  • \n

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Certificate in Respiratory Therapy
  • \n

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in respiratory therapy, ventilator management, EKG, oxygen administration, and airway management
  • \n

  • Basic knowledge of pulmonary and cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
  • \n

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (American Heart Association)
  • \n

  • RRT credential (NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist)
  • \n

  • Illinois RCP license required if applicable
  • \n

  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • \n

  • Experience with EPIC charting system
  • \n

Additional Information\n

    \n
  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care under the guidance of a physician and Director of Respiratory Therapy
  • \n

  • Administer oxygen mixtures using various delivery devices and set up, initiate, and maintain ventilators and CPAP devices
  • \n

  • Assist with intubation and provide airway maintenance, endotracheal and tracheostomy care, as well as extubation care
  • \n

  • Initiate and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life support procedures
  • \n

  • Confer with physicians on patient care and carry out physician orders, including administering respiratory medications
  • \n

  • Recognize and record signs and symptoms of medication side effects
  • \n

  • Use equipment for positive pressure delivery, humidification, nebulization, and medication administration
  • \n

  • Perform bronchial secretion removal techniques including postural drainage, chest percussion, and airway suctioning
  • \n

  • Perform pulmonary function testing and operate pulmonary function equipment (if trained)
  • \n

  • Perform and prepare 12-lead EKGs for physician interpretation
  • \n

  • Oversee certified and non-certified technicians performing procedures requiring specialized expertise as needed
  • \n

  • Assemble, disassemble, and safely handle respiratory therapy equipment
  • \n

  • Provide age-specific patient care, adjusting clinical approach based on individual patient needs
  • \n

  • Work independently and supervise shift needs as required
  • \n

  • Perform arterial punctures and arterial line draws per guidelines and competencies
  • \n

  • Set up BiPAP and Optiflow devices and evaluate patient response to therapy
  • \n

  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • \n

  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • \n
