POSITION TITLE: Tire Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Dobbs Tire and Auto Centers was founded in 1976 as a family-owned complete auto care solution in South St. Louis, Missouri. The Dobbs brand has experienced significant growth, expanding to over 100 locations across Missouri, Illinois, Texas and Ohio with future growth goals to over 200 stores by 2027. Along with offering a full selection of quality tire brands, all locations provide comprehensive automotive services, from routine maintenance to complex diagnostics and engine repairs. Dobbs Tire and Auto is seeking a Tire Technician to handle everything from mounting, balancing, and rotating tires to repairing flats and performing minor vehicle maintenance. This position also helps with inventory, inspect tire casings, and keeping the shop clean and organized. The ideal candidate will be detailed driven, accountable, customer centric and a team player with a strong work ethic to contribute to the department goals and achieve results.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mount & dismount tires; inspect damaged, defective, or flat tires to determine repair feasibility.
  • Perform tire repairs, balancing, and rotation on a variety of vehicles.
  • Conduct minor automotive maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, and accessory replacement.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment using approved methods and solvents.
  • Drive customer vehicles into and out of the service bay and provide shuttle service when needed.
  • Receive, inventory, and properly store tires based on size and type; stack and organize storage areas accordingly.
  • Inspect tire casings and accurately categorize them as reusable or scrap.
  • Deliver tires to other service locations as needed and complete additional tasks or assignments as directed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Fast-paced automotive service environment.
  • Frequent exposure to varying temperatures due to the nature of the work and shop conditions.
  • Regular contact with automotive chemicals, including solvents, lubricants, and fluids used in vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting tires or equipment.
  • Requires adherence to all safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Involves teamwork, reliability, and effective communication to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality service are essential for success.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Drivers’ Licenses
