Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager/Estimator – Industrial Plumbing oversees the full lifecycle of large-scale industrial plumbing projects, from initial planning to final completion. This role entails managing the design, installation, and maintenance of plumbing systems in industrial settings, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and under budget. The Senior Project Manager will lead teams, coordinate resources, and maintain strong collaboration with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to deliver exceptional project results.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Project Planning & Development
Direct industrial plumbing projects, including installations, retrofits, and system upgrades, from concept to completion. Develop comprehensive project plans with timelines, budgets, and resource needs, ensuring adherence to codes and regulations. Identify potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. - Budget & Financial Management
Prepare and oversee project budgets, track costs, and authorize payments to vendors and subcontractors. Ensure accuracy and timely handling of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders. - Project Execution & Coordination
Manage daily project activities, optimizing resources and schedules. Supervise project teams, including plumbers and subcontractors, to ensure high-quality workmanship. Partner with engineers, architects, and contractors, and perform regular site visits to monitor progress and safety compliance. - Client Management
Serve as the key point of contact for clients, fostering clear communication and strong relationships. Provide regular project updates, address client concerns, and manage scope adjustments, clearly outlining impacts on timelines and budgets. - Team Leadership & Mentorship
Guide and mentor project teams, cultivating a collaborative and supportive work environment. Offer training, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to enhance team development. - Quality & Safety Management
Ensure plumbing installations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Champion workplace safety by conducting inspections and enforcing compliance with safety protocols. - Reporting & Documentation
Generate detailed project reports for management and maintain organized records, including contracts, permits, and financial documentation. Oversee project closeout, including final inspections and delivery of documentation to clients. - Estimating
Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements and develop accurate bid proposals. Conduct take-offs, coordinate with vendors and suppliers, and prepare bid documents with tailored scope letters for each project. - Team Building & Leadership
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth within project teams. Strengthen team cohesion through open communication and proactive problem-solving. Support recruitment, training, and skill development to ensure team success. - Business Development
Work with the Charlotte business development team to identify new opportunities, build client relationships, and explore growth within existing projects. Assist in crafting proposals, presentations, and bids to win new contracts. Attend client meetings and networking events to enhance market presence. Analyze market trends and client feedback to guide strategic decisions and strengthen long-term partnerships.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: PMP certification preferred; relevant plumbing certifications (e.g., Master Plumber License) are a plus.
- Experience: 7-10 years of project management experience in industrial plumbing.
- Proven Expertise: Demonstrated success leading large-scale plumbing projects.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of industrial plumbing system design, installation, and maintenance.
