Job DescriptionDescription:

Boston Eye Surgery & Laser Center (BESLC) is currently seeking a full time 40 hours Front Desk Representative to work in our Boston office with occasional coverage in our Waltham center. The anticipated schedule is Monday-Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm.


Typical Physical Demands: Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone and copier. It is necessary to view and type on the computer screens for long periods and to work in environment which can be stressful.


Example of Duties:

1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.

2. Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record.

3. Collects patient payments and forwards to appropriate areas.

4. Answers telephone from outside and in office callers, directs, take messages and provides information.

5. Responsible for updating patient demographic information into the computer system after the patient admission.

6. Maintaining HIPAA compliance.

7. Attends all in-services and staff meetings.

8. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.

9. Performs related work as required.

10. Cross training with other front desk employees.

11. Responsible for maintaining completion and order of surgical chart for each patient. Ensuring all signatures and paperwork are complete. Completing Surgical EPIC checklist for each patient.

12. Scanning surgical paperwork into EPIC.

13. Responsible for all Op notes & Specimen reports including: obtaining signature from the MDs and scanning specimen reports into EPIC.

14. Responsible for putting together check-in packets for surgical patients.

15. Faxing surgery schedule to transcriptionist daily.

16. Scans Surgical Insurance forms into EPIC.

17. Print demographic info.

18. Organizing subsequent surgery form for second eye patients.

19. Daily fax machine clean up. Ensure that faxes are going to connect people. Dispose of any junk mail.

20. Print up stickers and demographics for clinical staff when needed.
