Lead Software Engineer (.NET / C# / React or Angular)
Remote (U.S.)
$150K to $200K base plus benefits
About the Role
We are partnering with a mission-driven SaaS company in the ed-tech space building a consumer-facing platform used by universities and employers nationwide.
They are hiring a hands-on Lead Engineer to guide a small team of 3 to 5 engineers while actively contributing to the codebase.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys leading engineers, owning delivery, and staying deeply technical, with roughly a 50/50 split between leadership and hands-on development.
What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 5 engineers
- Stay hands-on with 30 to 50 percent coding across backend and frontend
- Own team delivery, velocity, and code quality
- Drive architecture and technical decisions
- Build and maintain consumer-facing web applications
- Develop scalable backend systems using C# and .NET (Web API)
- Work on modern SPA frontends using React or Angular
- Conduct detailed code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
- Partner closely with Product, QA, and other engineering leads
- Balance new feature development with ongoing refactoring and improvements
Must Haves
- 7 or more years of full-stack development with C# and .NET
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers
- Proven experience building consumer-facing web applications
- Hands-on experience with React or Angular (SPA development)
- Strong experience with Web APIs and backend architecture
- Experience working in large, complex, or long-running codebases
- Strong understanding of testing including unit and integration testing and TDD
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments
Nice to Have
- Experience modernizing legacy frontend frameworks such as AngularJS to React
- SaaS product experience
- Azure experience
