Job DescriptionSenior Field Diesel Technician, Industrial Pumps
Can you diagnose a diesel no‑start, trace a DC fault, and set a pump system in the field—often on the same day? If that sounds like you, Xylem’s Minnesota team is looking for a Senior Diesel Technician to keep our Godwin rental fleet performing at its best and our customers up and running.
What challenges will you tackle?
- Inspect and service Godwin equipment between rentals so it’s safe, reliable, and ready to deploy.
- Troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, and pump performance issues—using both tools and computer‑based diagnostics.
- Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends with precision.
- Collaborate with customers and Xylem crews to configure temporary pumping systems; support start‑ups and fix issues on the spot.
- Evaluate returned equipment for damage, document findings, and report to the Service Manager.
- Maintain company vehicles and shop support equipment.
- Participate in a weekly after‑hours on‑call rotation to assist customers.
- Pitch in on related duties and join Xylem Watermark volunteer efforts.
Do you have the background?
- 3–5 years of diesel experience or equivalent education/training.
- Valid driver’s license and strong driving record.
- Proven mechanical aptitude; preferred experience diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Solid understanding of equipment repair practices, tools, and materials.
- Basic knowledge of pump station controls and monitoring devices.
- General DC electrical and circuit testing skills.
- Familiarity with diesel engine components.
- CDL Class B is a bonus.
- Consistent safety mindset.
- Independent, self‑motivated work style.
- Professional communication skills—written and verbal—with customers and internal teams.
What is a typical week like?
- Fieldwork across Minnesota—often outdoors in extreme weather and noisy environments—wearing appropriate PPE.
- Regular lifting up to 50 lbs, plus extended standing and sitting as tasks require.
- Frequent travel to customer sites and scheduled on‑call duties.
- Standard workweek: 40 hours.
What’s in it for you?
- Hourly pay range: $28–$36, based on experience, skills, and location (offers are not typically at the top of the range).
- $2,500 Sign‑On Bonus.
- 4 weeks of PTO for hourly positions.
- Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
- 401(k) with company contribution.
- Paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
- Paid CDL upgrade training (if applicable) and additional benefits.
