Job Description

This role focuses on building and installing storage cabinets and related automotive accessories in vehicles within a professional customization and aftermarket accessory shop. You will work as part of an installation team, using hand and power tools to assemble and install cabinets according to specifications and measurements while continuously learning and refining the installation process.

Responsibilities

  • Install automotive accessories with a primary focus on building and installing storage cabinets in vehicles.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to assemble and secure cabinets and related components.
  • Read, interpret, and apply measurements accurately using a tape measure to ensure precise fits and alignments.
  • Follow written and verbal directions to assemble cabinets and complete installation tasks according to specifications.
  • Utilize mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor fitment or installation issues and adjust components as needed.
  • Review and understand basic blueprints or diagrams related to cabinet layouts and automotive installations.
  • Bring and maintain basic personal hand and power tools required to complete on-the-job installations.
  • Work collaboratively with the installation team to complete projects efficiently and to a high quality standard.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, materials, and vehicles being serviced.
  • Adhere to shop safety procedures and guidelines while working in an active automotive environment.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply new installation techniques.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for carpentry, cabinet building, and general assembly tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements accurately using a tape measure.
  • Capability to follow directions and assembly instructions to build and install cabinets.
  • Basic tool ownership, including at least essential hand and power tools suitable for on-site installations.
  • Experience or familiarity with hand tools, carpentry, production work, woodworking, and assembly.
  • Mechanical skills related to using tools and performing basic automotive or mechanical tasks.
  • Ability to understand and work from blueprints or basic diagrams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when cutting, assembling, and installing cabinetry and components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Past experience as an installer in the automotive field.
  • Previous experience building or installing cabinets in automotive applications.
  • Experience in cabinet making, cabinetry, or woodworking in a production environment.
  • Experience with automotive repair, painting, tinting, or other automotive customization processes.
  • Familiarity with diagnosis and troubleshooting of minor installation or fitment issues.

Work Environment

The role is based in a standard automotive shop equipped with 11 working bays dedicated to installation projects. You will work in a non-climate-controlled facility, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing consistent daytime hours in a hands-on, shop-based environment using a variety of hand and power tools.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westerville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
