Job DescriptionApex Placement & Consulting has partnered with an exciting organization seeking a motivated and dependable Shipping & Receiving Lead to join their team in Wixom, MI. In this role, you will manage S&R department and ensure compliance with the systems and processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has great leadership qualities and able to work in a fast-paced environment and committed to producing quality products as part of a team.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Arranging expedited inbound/outbound freight shipments as required
- Complying with customer shipping requirements via releases
- Responsible for ensuring 100% compliance to shipping and receiving processes, procedures and systems implemented (Ex. 5S, Poka Yoke, SMED, etc…)
- Builds, develops, and manages shipping and receiving team capable of carrying out needed shipping and receiving strategies and improving employee relations
- Ensures scanned receipt of raw material within 24 hours and scanned out-bound shipments per shipping requirements
- Compliance to State and Federal regulations and complete USMCA documents
- Complies with Dock Audit requirements on all inbound and outbound shipments
- Validates packing lists to PO’s and communicates variances found
- Identifies, assigns and complies with training requirements for S & R and completes performance evaluations and annual objectives
- Responsible for supporting required sorts and utilizing the Hold area as needed
- Drives continuous improvement in cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery in shipping and receiving
- Continuously identify and implement inventory storage optimization plans
- Responsible for ensuring 100% compliance to inventory control processes, procedures and systems implemented (Ex. 5S, Poka Yoke, SMED, etc…)
- Implements and drives compliance to FIFO systems and processes
- Implements and drives compliance to 5S and Visual management activities on the plant floor associated with inventory storage and S & R
- Supports manufacturing policies in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques in inventory control and maintains measures of performance
- Supports problem resolution activities to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships
- Actively participates in the Layered Process Audit program, participates in quality standard audits, and kaizen events as required
- Responsible for the development of a cohesive group of material handlers’ to drive the highest quality output of delivery and performance.
Qualifications:
- Leadership: ability to lead people, get results through others and hold self and others accountable
- Preferred knowledge and experience in ISO9001:2008 and/or TS16949
- Shipping and Receiving systems deployment and compliance
- Problem analysis and resolution at the functional level
- Preferred technical skills including Lean Manufacturing Techniques, Kaizen, process improvement, Six Sigma, freight & distribution, materials management, production scheduling, ISO/TS and OSHA.
- Preferred experience with ERP systems-PLEX software experience a PLUS
- Minimum 1 year production experience in a manufacturing environment and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to operate Fork Truck as required
- Computer proficiency – strong Excel, PP and Outlook skills
