Location: Charlotte, NC or New York, NY

Direct Counsel is representing a leading law firm seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join its Capital Markets department. This role focuses on commercial mortgage-backed securitization (CMBS) and requires experience in the origination, securitization, syndication, and/or participation of commercial mortgage loans and mezzanine loans. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in these areas and will have the opportunity to work on complex, high-value transactions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This position is available in either the Charlotte, NC or New York, NY office, offering a unique opportunity to engage with a wide range of clients in the real estate and capital markets sectors.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the origination, securitization, and syndication of commercial mortgage loans and mezzanine loans.

• Review and negotiate loan agreements, securitization documents, and related transaction documents.

• Provide due diligence support for commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions.

• Work closely with senior attorneys and clients to structure, negotiate, and close complex real estate-related securities transactions.

• Participate in the drafting of key documents, including credit agreements, participation agreements, and securitization documents.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial mortgage-backed securitization, origination, or syndication.

• Strong background in real estate finance, including mezzanine loans, syndicated lending, or related capital markets transactions.

• Excellent academic credentials and solid experience at a top law firm.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

• A team-oriented approach and the ability to build client relationships.

Salary and Compensation
The anticipated annual base salary for this position ranges from $235,000 to $390,000, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The firm offers a competitive salary package with opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
