Duration: Contract (6 Months w/ option to extend)

W2 Pay Rate Range: $40/hr - $55/hr

Job Description:
The Frontend Engineer will support the client's product engineering teams by developing, enhancing, and maintaining scalable frontend components and user interfaces while contributing to a modern, microservices-based platform supporting high-traffic digital experiences.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain frontend components using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript practices

  • Build responsive, accessible UI components such as calendars, order forms, data cards, and input workflows

  • Consume and test APIs using tools such as Postman and integrate frontend services with backend endpoints

  • Troubleshoot bugs, performance issues, and UI inconsistencies across a shared codebase

  • Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to implement Figma-based designs

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and sprint demos

  • Contribute to shared component libraries and design systems used across multiple teams

  • Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility

  • Manage state and asynchronous data flows within frontend applications

  • Support ongoing platform maintenance and enhancements across multiple product areas

  • Review peer code and contribute to best practices around code quality and testing

Requirements:

  • Must-Have Skills/Experiences:

    • 2 years of Frontend engineering experience

    • Strong experience with React and modern JavaScript (ES6 )

    • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive/mobile-first development

    • Experience with state management (Redux or similar patterns)

    • Experience consuming REST APIs and working with asynchronous data (fetch, promises, etc.)

    • Experience using Postman or similar API testing tools

    • Familiarity with Git version control workflows

    • Experience working in Agile environments using tools such as Jira or Confluence

    • Understanding of component-based architecture and reusable UI patterns

    • Ability to debug and resolve frontend defects in complex applications

    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Nice-to-Have Skills/Experiences (NOT required, but a plus!) :

    • Experience with Golang, Java, or other OO programming languages - with a solid understanding of OO design principles, concurrency, multi-threading, performance tuning, and observability.

    • Experience contributing to design systems or component libraries

    • Design sensibility and experience partnering with UX/UI teams

    • Experience with build tooling and frontend pipelines

    • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS

    • Exposure to backend technologies or microservices environments - crafting resilient, high-scale, low-latency, distributed microservices in production environments.

    • Experience reviewing code and mentoring junior engineers

    • Experience working in large, shared repositories

    • Exposure to GenAI tools or experimentation with AI-assisted development
