The Development Coordinator supports the organization’s fundraising and development efforts by working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and fundraising team. This role focuses on donor engagement, grant support, fundraising systems, and community engagement strategies that build momentum toward the organization’s annual fundraiser and long-term sustainability.
This position partners closely with the Marketing team to align mission for fundraising initiatives but does not duplicate or replace marketing functions.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
- Coordinate fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
- Support planning and execution of the organization’s annual fundraiser, including year-round engagement strategies that lead up to the event
- Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, and follow-up throughout the year
- Track fundraising progress and support reporting to leadership and the Board
Board & Fundraising Team Collaboration
- Work with Board members on fundraising initiatives, donor outreach, and engagement activities
- Support Board fundraising goals by providing materials, timelines, and donor tracking
- Attend fundraising or Board-related meetings as needed to support development efforts
Donor Management
- Manage and maintain donor information using the fundraising platform
- Support campaign setup, donor communications, and reporting
- Track donations, sponsorships, and donor engagement data to inform fundraising strategies
- Ensure donor data is accurate, organized, and usable for ongoing development efforts
Community Engagement & Fundraising Growth
- Identify and help coordinate community engagement opportunities that support fundraising goals
- Support partnerships, sponsorships, and outreach efforts that build visibility and donor relationships
- Help develop ideas for year-round engagement (events, campaigns, outreach) that connect the community to the organization’s mission and annual fundraiser
Collaboration with Marketing
- Partner with the Marketing team to ensure fundraising campaigns are aligned with organizational mission
- Provide development-related content or direction to support fundraising communications
- Coordinate timing and goals of fundraising initiatives without duplicating marketing responsibilities
Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, donor engagement
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with Boards of Directors and community stakeholders
- Experience with donor databases or fundraising platforms (OneCause experience a plus)
- Strong written communication skills, particularly for donor and grant-related content
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a mission-driven environment
