Job DescriptionJob Title: Contract Specialist

Location: Washington DC

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Contract Specialist to support the acquisition and procurement functions for our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing pre-award and post-award contracting activities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, solicit, evaluate, negotiate, and administer complex contracts for goods and services.

  • Conduct market research and cost/price analysis to support acquisition strategy.

  • Prepare and issue Request for Proposals (RFPs), Invitations for Bid (IFBs), and other solicitation documents.

  • Evaluate contractor proposals and assist in source selection activities.

  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and agency-specific acquisition policies.

  • Prepare and execute contract modifications, terminations, and close-outs.

  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to program offices and stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate and complete contract files and documentation.

  • Interface with legal, finance, and technical staff throughout the procurement lifecycle.

Basic Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.

  • Coursework: Completion of at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following disciplines:

    • Accounting

    • Business

    • Finance

    • Law

    • Contracts

    • Purchasing

    • Economics

    • Industrial Management

    • Marketing

    • Quantitative Methods

    • Organization and Management

  • Experience: [Insert experience requirements, e.g., 1-3 years in procurement/contracting preferred.]

  • Certifications: Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) desired but not required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and agency-specific procurement regulations.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in contract writing systems and procurement software (e.g., PRISM, FPDS-NG).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Experience working in a government or federal contracting environment.
