Job Description
The Project Controls Specialist supporting Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects for a top local utility is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of project controls to ensure successful project delivery. This role typically encompasses a range of tasks and responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Management
- Develop and maintain project budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and forecasts to ensure financial accuracy.
- Identify cost variances and implement corrective actions as necessary.
2. Schedule Management
- Create and manage project schedules using tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Track project progress and update schedules regularly.
- Conduct schedule risk analysis to mitigate potential delays.
3. Risk Management
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and update risk management plans.
4. Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including change orders and financial reports.
5. Collaboration
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Facilitate communication between teams to resolve issues promptly.
6. Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with project standards and regulations.
- Participate in reviews and audits to maintain project quality.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in project controls, preferably in T&D projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively relay information to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
