Position Summary: The Electrical Engineering position is responsible for the design of electrical circuits, automotive-style wire harnesses, and custom circuit board assemblies. This person is responsible for supporting the Electronics (“E”) product line and E business operation. This individual will be required to apply their extensive electrical knowledge and design expertise to develop custom electrical products and solutions.
Areas of Accountability:
- Design and engineer electronic control systems, circuits, and assemblies. Specific functions include:
- Layout and design electrical systems for mobile on/off highway equipment.
- Design automotive-style wiring harnesses for vehicle applications.
- Design custom printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies.
- Build and test prototype electrical harnesses and assemblies as required.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of products, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Develop, document, and improve electrical engineering practices.
- Attends E supplier training sessions as needed.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of all E products available to JEM Technical.
- Performs assembly of prototype products with other JEM associates as needed.
- Confirms specifications, standards, and changes required to build products.
- Supports the engineering department in relation to E systems.
- Assists in customer E system commissioning and project startups.
- Demonstrates leadership and sound judgment when representing JEM Technical.
- Confers with JEM associates at all levels of the organization to ensure smooth business operations.
- Focuses on continuous improvement in all areas related to the E product line and business operations. Recommends process improvement changes when appropriate.
- Independently meets with customers and suppliers as required.
- Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
- Supports JEM’s vision and mission and exemplifies JEM’s core values daily.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Job Qualifications:
- Associates degree in mechatronics or related field is required.
- 1 to 3 years of industrial and/or mobile control system experience required.
- Knowledge of mobile and industrial electronics, fluid power, hydraulic circuits, and mobile equipment is preferred.
- CAD/Solid modeling skills required. SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical expertise preferred.
- PLC/HMI software development skills. CODESYS expertise preferred.
- C++ and QT experience desired.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
- Advanced computer skills required.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive independently, and maintain a safe driving record.
- Requires occasional travel.
