POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT and marine services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Data Analyst to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.

The Data Analyst supports ecological and population studies through quantitative analysis of diverse datasets, including acoustic, survey, telemetry, and environmental data. The analyst contributes to model development, data management, and reporting that inform species conservation strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement models for abundance estimation, species distribution, and ecological trends.
  • Analyze survey, telemetry, acoustic, and satellite data using statistical and machine learning tools.
  • Build and maintain relational databases; integrate spatial and environmental datasets.
  • Develop R and RShiny applications for data visualization and interactive tools.
  • Generate reports, technical memos, and presentations for scientific and public audiences.
  • Assist with permit applications and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in fisheries, ecology, statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, SQL, and statistical modeling techniques (e.g., GAMs, Bayesian models). Experience processing remote sensing and survey data.
  • Familiarity with open-source AI/ML tools and web application development is preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills; experience in publishing scientific manuscripts
