We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team!
Position OverviewThe Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-level network systems to support mission-critical operations. This role requires extensive expertise in managing complex IT system and network architectures, as well as the ability to provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and rapid resolution of issues. The Senior Network Engineer will collaborate with program and project leaders to ensure that requirements, risks, and performance objectives are effectively addressed.
Key Responsibilities· Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive network architecture plans to support enterprise IT systems and operations.· Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of secure, scalable, and resilient networks.· Coordinate with program and project leaders to assess IT system and network architecture, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.· Identify and define strategies to address requirements, risks, and system performance challenges.· Conduct trade-off analyses of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance considerations.· Provide subject matter expertise in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for network infrastructure.· Establish and maintain standards for network security, configuration, and performance monitoring.· Create and maintain documentation including network diagrams, architecture roadmaps, and configuration baselines.· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and IT staff.· Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in network engineering.
Minimum Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).· 10+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level system and network architecture.· Demonstrated expertise in routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.· Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and related networking protocols.· Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or similar) and hybrid environments.· Proven ability to perform trade-off analysis of requirements versus cost, schedule, and performance.· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly resolve complex technical issues.· Active security clearance (if required by contract).
Preferred Qualifications· Master’s degree in a technical discipline.· Industry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, AWS/Azure Network Specialty, or equivalent.· Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or other federal government programs.· Familiarity with RMF, NIST standards, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
