Position Title: Facilities Project Specialist


Base Salary: $75,000 to $125,000 annually DOE

Job Summary

The Facilities Project Specialist is responsible for design, management and oversight of construction-related activities for new and existing Point of Presence (POP) facilities and other Critical Facilities related projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee and not intended to reflect all duties performed.


Market Expansion & Strategic Support

· Support Ziply Fiber market expansion efforts through the establishment of new POP facilities.

· Review and provide feedback on property acquisition options.

· Research and recommend options that will assist with meeting business objectives.

· Provide support for specific initiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency and efficiency of our data centers, central offices, and POPs.


Project & Construction Management

· Successfully meet project deadlines and deliverables.

· Manage construction projects for Facilities / Critical Infrastructure / Colo initiatives.

· Engage and understand the status across all respective ongoing projects at any time.

· Perform site visits and surveys as needed.


Facilities Implementation & Infrastructure

· Responsible for the successful implementation of facility activities including site prep, construction, fencing, utilities, grounds, HVAC, generators, underground storage tanks, fuel tanks, transfer switches, parking, storage, and security.

· Set-up new utilities (trash, power, propane, etc.) in Engie and contact provider(s) to create account(s).

· Coordinate with Landlords and property owners for site visits and other requirements.

· Close out buildings, returning to pre-lease conditions.


Vendor, Contractor & Financial Coordination

· Directly interface with contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project close out phases.

· Verify vendor expenses for accuracy and submit to Accounts Payable for payment processing.

· Create work orders, purchase orders and CPPs.


Documentation, Compliance & Availability

· Perform and maintain construction-related documentation including Request for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFI), Scopes of Work (SOW) and change orders.

· Must be available to work regular business hours Pacific Standard Time.

· Must also be available to work on-call, evenings and weekends as needed.


Other Duties

· Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Facilities Management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction management experience.
  • Strong background in Commercial/Industrial building systems to include HVAC, 3-Phase Power Distribution, Fire Detection/Suppression and Automated Building Controls.
  • Strong background with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations such as building electrical codes, OSHA, ADA, and environmental issues.
  • Experience as a problem solver under emergency conditions; reviewing all available facts and making prudent decisions when a facility component has failed (i.e., Roof, HVAC units).
  • Experience developing project scope, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Working Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Visio applications.

· Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.

· Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.

  • Ability to drive on behalf of the Company in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to travel.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work is primarily a modern office setting.
