The Entertainment Support Technician will provide hands-on technical support across a variety of entertainment venues onboard the Disney Cruise Line fleet, including theaters, shipwide spaces, and during special events.
This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality operation, of audio, lighting, automation, show control, props, and special effects systems as needed. This position will work collaboratively with specialized teams and may assist in training, setup, and last-minute operations.
The Entertainment Support Technician will provide support for live shows, events, and daily operations across all entertainment venues to ensure every production runs smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities

Operate, set up, and strike entertainment technical equipment (audio, lighting, automation, show control, props, special effects) for shows, events, and daily activities across the Disney Cruise Line fleet as needed.

Partner and support onboard Technical Crew with preventative maintenance on entertainment systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.

Support the installation and testing of new equipment and technologies in partnership with Shoreside Entertainment Technical team members.

Cover onboard Entertainment Technician roles and assist with live show operations, including, but not limited to; audio mixing, lighting control, scenic automation, and prop/puppet handling.

Provide technical support for rehearsals, cast crossovers, load-ins/outs, movie premieres, and company events.

Ensure all equipment is operated and maintained according to safety standards and company policies.

Work closely with Senior Technicians, Show Control, Audio, Lighting, and Props teams.

Communicate effectively with leadership, performers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

SMS – Partner with Shipboard and Shoreside leadership in the general safety management responsibilities of the Entertainment Technical department.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical entertainment environment (theater, live events, cruise ship, or similar).

Proven skills in at least two of the following areas: audio, lighting, automation, show control, props/puppets, or special effects.

Experience with digital audio consoles, lighting desks, automation control systems, and/or show control software.

Ability to work at heights and with heavy equipment.

Computer literacy and familiarity with computerized control systems.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to perform in environments with pyrotechnics, smoke, haze, and other special effects.

Extensive travel to multiple ships and locations globally, often at short notice.

Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and road cases.

Comfortable working in varied environments, including shipboard, outdoor, and stage settings.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
