Meat Clerk/Produce Clerk
$15.50 - $16.50 per hour
Minimum Age - 18 years old
Full-Time Clerk:
- Permanent Position
- 40 hours per week on average

Meat Clerk Position:
Position Overview
Receive, store, and issue sales floor merchandise. Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with merchandise and arrange merchandise displays to attract customers. Identify and wrap cuts of meat using manual and mechanical methods. May periodically take a physical count of stock or check and mark merchandise.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer customers' questions about merchandise and advise customers on merchandise selection.
- Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with new or transferred merchandise.
- Receive, open, unpack, and issue sales floor merchandise.
- Clean display cases, shelves, and aisles.
- Compare merchandise invoices to items actually received to ensure that shipments are correct.
- Cut, wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat.
- Prepare and place meat cuts and products on the display counter, so they will appear attractive and catch the shopper's eye.
Produce Clerk Position:
Position Overview
Produce Clerks work product from the stockroom onto the sales floor: fill shelves, end-bases, and aisle-stacks. Grocery clerks will also return unused products to the stockroom in an orderly way to reduce shrinkage and aid the ordering process. Freight clerks will be responsible for keeping their working areas clean and free of debris.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer customers' questions about merchandise and advise customers on merchandise selection.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms or the sales floor.
- Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with new or transferred merchandise.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Mark stock items using identification tags, order tags as needed.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Clean display cases, shelves, and aisles.
- Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Keep aisles and end-bases clean and faced.
- Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom workers.

Requirements
- Minimum Age - 18 years old
- Handling and Moving Objects Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Performing General Physical Activities Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates in written form, by email, or in person.
- Working Directly with the Public Dealing directly with the public.
- Controlling Machines and Processes Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
- Customer and Personal Service Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Mathematics Ability to read a sequence of numbers, and knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications.
- English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Physical Requirements
- Trunk Strength The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
- Near Vision The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
