The After School Site Supervisor will plan and implement the daily operations of an after-school program for MacFarland Middle School. The academic year program will consist of academic tutoring, enrichment clubs, parent engagement, community service projects, and positive youth development workshops. In addition, the staff will participate in the planning and implementation of a summer component. The Site Supervisor will be based primarily at the school site and responsible for recruiting students, connecting with key school staff, and implementing daily academic and enrichment activities with the assistance of an Americorps member.

Latin American Youth Center’s (LAYC) mission is to empower youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood, through comprehensive and innovative programs that address youths’ social, academic, and career needs. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement an engaging, academically focused, daily after-school program at MacFarland Middle School
  • Create an academic environment to support student learning
  • Monitor student academic progress
  • Implement project-based curricula for enrichment activities
  • Plan and execute 3-5 field trips during the fiscal year
  • Jointly coordinate parent/family engagement events with intra-agency partners and programs, school staff, and community partners
  • Supervise a team of 2-3 people that includes AmeriCorps members and volunteers
  • Manage youth intake and enrollment process, ensuring that all documentation is complete and in compliance with funder requirements
  • Complete data collection, and weekly data entry into LAYC integrated data management system Efforts To Outcomes (ETO)
  • Support youth and program caregivers with referrals to supports related to food, basic needs, and language access
  • Serve as LAYC’s liaison with school administrators and staff
  • Work with a team of LAYC site supervisors to support youth across all Education programs


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED, or Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Two years of youth development experience.
  • Passion for education and youth development

  • Excellent facilitation and training skills
  • Knowledgeable about programming and engagement strategies
  • Strong initiative and adaptability
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • The willingness and desire to work independently, as well as collaboratively
  • Complete criminal and child abuse/neglect clearances.
  • Flexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to youth development in a high quality, respectful environment.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with culturally diverse populations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs. May require the ability to travel locally and/or regionally.
