Position Overview:

The Used Car Sales Manager is a key member of the dealership leadership team, responsible for driving profitability, inventory strategy, and team performance in the used-vehicle department.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can coach, develop, and motivate a high-performing sales team, while actively managing inventory, pricing strategy, and the customer experience from first interaction to final delivery. The target income for this position is $120,000 -$150,000 annually.

What You'll Do:

Leadership & Team Performance

  • Lead, coach, and develop Sales Associates to achieve unit, gross, and CSI targets
  • Drive accountability through daily performance management and structured follow-up
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, engagement, and retention

Inventory & Pricing Strategy

  • Manage used vehicle inventory, including acquisition, pricing, merchandising, and aging strategy
  • Ensure all vehicles are accurately priced, market-aligned, and properly listed online
  • Partner with leadership to maintain optimal inventory levels and turn rates

Desking & Deal Management

  • Structure and desk deals to maximize profitability while delivering a great customer experience
  • Support negotiations and ensure customers clearly understand pricing and purchase options
  • Monitor and manage gross performance and deal quality

Appraisals & Acquisition

  • Perform accurate and competitive trade appraisals
  • Actively drive used vehicle acquisition strategy through trades and direct purchases
  • Manage trade values to minimize wholesale losses and maximize retail opportunities

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all customer traffic channels: Showroom, Digital, and Phone
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement action plans to address gaps
  • Support expense management and operational efficiency across departments

How You're Measured:

  • Used vehicle unit sales & gross profit performance
  • Team retention and engagement
  • Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI)
  • Inventory turn, aging, and acquisition effectiveness

What You Bring:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Used Car Manager, Sales Manager, or Finance Manager in an automotive dealership
  • Proven track record of driving sales performance and profitability
  • Strong experience in inventory management, pricing strategy, and appraisals
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on, accountability-driven approach
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a focus on team development
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
