Job Description
The Field Service Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots application equipment and instrumentation ensuring reliable product delivery for Global Animal Products (GAP) customers. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role provides technical support, preventive maintenance, and operator training to GAP customers. Through proactive communication and service reporting, the Field Service Technician drives customer satisfaction while supporting GAP’s operational and continuous improvement goals. This opening is for a Field Service Technician with a home base and territory in the Southeast U.S. Preference will be given to qualified candidates located in or willing to relocate to Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot application equipment at customer sites to ensure optimal system performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to maximize equipment reliability.
- Diagnose technical issues, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Provide training and technical support to customers and operators.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to address needs, resolve concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
- Document service activities, including issues, corrective actions, and performance metrics.
- Support operational objectives and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in a technical field or certifications such as HVAC, electrical, or mechanical preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, preferably in animal feed or agriculture industries.
- Strong technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
- Commitment to quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, stand for several hours, climb ladders, and work in various environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in agricultural or industrial technical service roles
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Licensed (electrician, plumber, HVAC, etc.)
- Knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, plumbing, and liquid feed application systems
- Familiarity with the animal feed industry and existing relationships with feed distributors or mill operators
- Self-motivated, proactive problem-solver with strong organizational skills
