Job Title: Field Engineer/Construction Inspector
Location: Spring Valley, NY
Type of Role: Contract
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Have a minimum of three (5) years prior experience and training in excavation, road, or utility construction with an emphasis on electric installations, plastic pipe installation, welding, and steel pipefitting. Inspectors will be required to oversee construction projects on Overhead and Underground Electric Transmission, Substation, Overhead and Underground Distribution, Environmental, Facilities and other types of electric utility projects.
An Inspector may be required to oversee multiple construction projects at varying stages at one time (from designing to completed final folder close out).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously at various stages, from initial design through final completion and project closeout.
- Inspect work performed by construction contractors under the supervision of Company representatives to ensure compliance with company specifications, approved work methods, and proper use of facilities and equipment.
- Ensure all projects are conducted in a safe manner and meet or exceed company safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Enforce and maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and applicable safety regulations.
- Review, read, and interpret drawings, maps, plans, specifications, and procedures to verify construction accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed field records, including daily job reports, material usage and locations, and field testing documentation.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure proper workmanship, quality standards, and adherence to project schedules.
- Utilize computer systems and software to complete documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Apply strong organizational and time-management skills to manage daily paperwork, maps, and documentation with a clear understanding of construction units of measurement.
- Coordinate effectively with Company representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to support successful project execution.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A high school diploma and work experience is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred but not required.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years prior experience and training in excavation, road, or utility construction with an emphasis on electric installations, plastic pipe installation, welding, and steel pipefitting.
- Inspectors will be required to oversee construction projects on Overhead and Underground Electric Transmission, Substation, Overhead and Underground Distribution, Environmental, Facilities and other types of electric utility projects.
- Be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Inspectors must possess a valid driver’s license
