Maintenance Mechanic – Chicago Heights, IL
Pay: $33+/hr + shift differential
Schedule: 3rd Shift | Monday – Friday | 10:00pm – 6:30am

We’re seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our Chicago Heights food manufacturing team. In this role, you’ll install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment to keep our operations safe, efficient, and compliant with all food safety standards.

What You’ll Do
- Perform maintenance and repairs on production and packaging equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues across the facility.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and component replacements.
- Support start-ups, changeovers, and equipment setup and teardown during production runs.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Complete accurate, legible maintenance logs and reports in the CMMS system (SAP).
- Follow all safety and GMP standards, including Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and food safety policies.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate equipment status and repair priorities with supervisors and incoming shifts.
What You Bring
- 3–7 years of maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing or food production environment.
- Solid knowledge of electrical systems (PLC, VFD, and A/C drives), hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical repair.
- Experience with welding (ARC, MIG, TIG) and light fabrication preferred.
- Ability to operate shop equipment (mill, lathe, brake, press, etc.).
- Skilled at reading blueprints and troubleshooting control systems.
- Familiar with 5S, Lean principles, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Proven ability to work independently and respond quickly to urgent repairs.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification a plus.
