Ashcraft & Gerel, a growing multi-state personal injury law firm with a 70-year legacy, is looking for a full-time Paralegal to join our highly reputable team in our Washington D.C. office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents, including claims, appeals, and motions.
- Organize and maintain case files, obtaining all necessary documents are in order.
- Coordinate with court personnel, opposing counsel, and clients to schedule hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Client Interaction:
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and answer their practical questions.
- Maintain regular contact with medical providers, insurance companies, and other parties involved in cases.
- Investigation Support:
- Assist in gathering evidence and conducting interviews with witnesses and experts.
- Prepare and manage the documentation of evidence, photographs, and exhibits for hearings.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage attorney calendars and schedules for court appearances, meetings, and deadlines.
- Prepare and send correspondence, including client letters and discovery requests.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a workers’ compensation paralegal or legal assistant is preferred.
- Familiarity with case management software..
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially when handling legal documents and records.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
