Job DescriptionFull-Time Toolmaker wanted at Steel Tool & Engineering Co. in Trenton, MI! If you prioritize precision, efficiency, and high-quality craftsmanship in everything you do, then you could be a good fit.Toolmaker Compensation:Competitive pay based on qualifications100% company-paid health insurance (If you already have medical coverage and don't request STE medical insurance, you can receive the medical waiver of $300 per month)Dental and vision coverage for you and your dependentsLife insurance401(k) retirement planPaid holidaysPaid vacationsKeep reading to learn more!YOUR DAY-TO-DAY AS OUR TOOLMAKER:You'll typically work from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.Your main focus will be on accurately building, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and specialized manufacturing equipment. You'll read and follow blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models, and machining specifications to produce highly precise parts that meet tight tolerances. Since you'll often be working independently, precision, efficiency, and troubleshooting skills are vital. As you work, you'll maintain accurate records and set-up sheets.You'll be responsible for properly setting up the CNC and manual machining equipment (lathes, grinders, hand tools, etc.) before accurately producing, assembling, and finishing the tools. When the tools are ready, you'll inspect the finished products with precision measurement devices (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy. You'll also diagnose issues with tools and perform the correct repairs to get them production-ready. We're always aiming to improve and do better, and you'll play a part in that by determining the most efficient machining sequences, performing root-cause analysis on issues, and supporting improved tooling and manufacturing processes.Toolmaker Requirements:Experience working with CAD drawingsExperience using precision measurement toolsStrong proficiency in CNC and manual machiningMechanical aptitude with an understanding of mechanical relationships, tolerances, and fitsExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsHigh levels of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detailAbility to clearly communicate with engineers, machinists, and production teamsAbility to lift 50 lbs., perform repetitive tasks with few breaks, and follow all safety protocolsPreferred - CAM programming experiencePreferred - completion of a tool and die apprenticeship, a journeyman certification, or equivalent experiencePreferred - 3+ years of experience in a tool room or precision machining environmentAPPLY WITH PURPOSE:At Steel Tool & Engineering, we don't just build precision aerospace components-we build careers.
