Job DescriptionAbout the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Forklift Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of forklifts and material handling equipment. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Salary: $80,000 -$100,000 salary per year.
Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on electric, and propane forklifts.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Source and order parts as needed; manage inventory of critical components.
- Collaborate with operations to minimize equipment downtime.
- Stay current with evolving forklift technologies and repair techniques.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a forklift or industrial equipment mechanic
- 3–5+ years working on forklifts or material handling equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude
- Hydraulic systems
- Internal combustion engines (LPG, gasoline, diesel)
- Electric forklifts (DC & AC motor systems)
Electrical & electronic troubleshooting skills
- Controllers, sensors, wiring harnesses, contactors
- Use of multimeters and diagnostic software
Experience with multiple forklift brands
- Toyota, Crown, Hyster, Yale, Raymond, CAT, Komatsu, etc.
Preventative maintenance expertise
- Scheduled PMs
- Inspection documentation
- Identifying wear trends before failures occur
Ability to read and interpret
- Service manuals
- Electrical schematics
- Hydraulic diagrams
Safety knowledge
- OSHA standards (1910, powered industrial trucks)
- Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Battery handling and charging safety
Valid driver’s license
- Ability to operate forklifts and shop vehicles
Physical capability
- Lift 50+ lbs
- Work in warehouses, outdoors, and around active operations
