General Manager – Fire Protection Services
Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a well-established Fire Protection Services organization to identify a General Manager to lead operations, drive growth, and oversee overall business performance within a key regional market.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Business Leadership
- Develop and execute annual operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and key performance initiatives.
- Drive organic growth through customer expansion, market development, and service penetration.
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic business initiatives and long-term growth objectives.
- Represent the organization within the marketplace and industry.
Operations Management
- Lead all day-to-day branch and field operations.
- Establish performance metrics, forecasting processes, and accountability measures.
- Improve service efficiency, backlog execution, scheduling, dispatching, and documentation quality.
- Enhance conversion of inspection deficiencies into repair and project opportunities.
Financial Leadership
- Maintain P&L responsibility for the business unit.
- Drive pricing strategy, margin improvement, and contract profitability.
- Manage working capital through effective billing, collections, backlog, and WIP management.
- Monitor and report on operational and financial KPIs.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with all applicable NFPA, OSHA, AHJ, and local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of service quality, safety performance, and technician certification compliance.
- Foster a culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Serve as the executive escalation point for major customer concerns.
- Drive customer retention, satisfaction, and account expansion initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience with at least 5 years managing a branch, district, region, or business unit.
- Experience within fire protection, mechanical contracting, construction services, building services, security, or related industries strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing complex operations and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong financial acumen including P&L management, forecasting, budgeting, job costing, and KPI analysis.
- Proven ability to lead growth initiatives, operational improvements, integrations, or business transformations.
- Executive presence with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience utilizing ERP, CRM, and field service management platforms preferred.
