Job Description

Assistant Project Manager

Big Island, Hawaii

A well-respected, Hawaii-based general contractor is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support high-end, architect-led residential construction projects on the Big Island.

This is an opportunity to join a builder known for delivering complex, design-forward homes with a strong reputation for craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail. Their work is highly collaborative, and the team partners closely with owners, architects, consultants, and field leadership throughout the life of each project. These are not cookie-cutter builds. They are custom, high-touch projects where communication, organization, and follow-through matter.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow under strong leadership, gain deeper exposure to project financials and construction operations, and build a long-term career with a company that has a strong pipeline and real room for advancement.

What you would be doing:

  • Support the Project Manager with day-to-day project coordination from preconstruction through closeout
  • Help manage RFIs, submittals, procurement tracking, change orders, meeting notes, and general project documentation
  • Track budgets, committed costs, and project updates while helping keep financial and administrative workflows organized
  • Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, architects, and consultants to keep project information moving
  • Assist with schedule updates, action item follow-up, and maintaining alignment between the office and field
  • Use Procore, Bluebeam, and related tools to manage project documents, drawing review, and communication
  • Help maintain a polished, professional experience for clients and design partners on high-expectation projects

What they are looking for:

  • Experience supporting construction projects in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar project support role
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and keep details from slipping
  • Comfortable working in a high-standards, fast-moving environment
  • Strong communication skills with both office and field teams
  • Procore and Bluebeam experience is highly preferred
  • Luxury residential, high-end custom home, hospitality, or other detail-heavy construction experience is a plus

Why this opportunity stands out:

  • High-end, architect-driven projects with strong design involvement
  • Tight collaboration with leadership, field teams, and decision-makers
  • Strong company reputation and pride in quality of work
  • Growth opportunity with a company expanding its project team
  • Clear path to take on more responsibility as trust is earned
  • Big Island-based work with a stable and respected builder

Compensation:

  • Competitive Salary
  • Cell phone allowance
  • Discretionary year-end bonus
  • Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO

Work model:

This is primarily an in-person role based on the Big Island, supporting both office and jobsite activity. It is not a remote position.
