Job DescriptionMedical Assistant - Ophthalmology - Canandaigua, NY
At Kelly® Professional & Industrial, we're seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join a busy ophthalmology practice in Canandaigua, NY. This is a hands-on clinical role where you'll work closely with physicians, perform diagnostic testing, and help provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Previous ophthalmology experience is preferred but not required. The practice is willing to train motivated candidates with medical assisting, direct patient care, pharmacy, optometry, or other strong healthcare experience who enjoy learning, staying busy, and working as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday-7:45 AM - 4:45 PM- (35-45-minute unpaid lunch)
- After 90 days/Training completed-Will be required to be in a rotating Thursday evening overtime schedule until approximately 7:00 PM
- Flexibility to travel between the Canandaigua and Geneva offices as needed up to 2 days a week
Pay:
- $18.00-$23.00/hour (Based on experience)

What You'll Do
- Prepare patients for eye examinations
- Obtain medical histories and document patient information
- Perform vision assessments and diagnostic testing
- Conduct refractive testing and eye measurements
- Assist physicians during examinations and sterile procedures
- Coordinate patient care throughout each visit
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR)
- Travel between office locations as needed
- Deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care while working as part of a collaborative clinical team
This is primarily a hands-on clinical position focused on patient care and diagnostic testing rather than front desk or administrative responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous ophthalmology experience preferred but not required
- Medical assisting, direct patient care, pharmacy, optometry, or other healthcare experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Ability to remain on your feet throughout the workday
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing patient needs
- Computer proficiency (EHR/EMR experience preferred; Medent experience is a plus)
- Phlebotomy experience or certification is a plus
- Reliable transportation with the flexibility to travel between the Canandaigua and Geneva offices as needed up to 2 days a week
