We're looking for an IT Support Specialist who's ready to jump in, troubleshoot, support, and keep our teams connected across our operating companies. If you like variety in your day and don't mind occasionally swapping between an office desk and a shipyard setting-this role is for you.
Job Summary
The IT Support Specialist at Fraser Industries provides day-to-day technical support for employees across the organization's operating companies in Superior, Wisconsin. This position serves as the primary on-site technology support resource and works closely with the company's third-party managed IT provider to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations.
The IT Support Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting user issues, supporting computer and device deployments, maintaining IT asset records, and assisting with cybersecurity and compliance efforts, including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling and CMMC requirements. This role ensures employees have the technology and support necessary to perform their work safely and efficiently in both office and operational environments.
Job Responsibilities
- User & Desktop Support: Provide in-person and remote technical support for computers, printers, mobile devices, and network connectivity issues. Troubleshoot Microsoft 365 applications, email, file access, and workstation performance issues. Set up, configure, and deploy new computers, monitors, and mobile devices for employees. Assist employees with password resets, access permissions, and general software troubleshooting. Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes including account setup, access permissions, and equipment distribution or collection. Maintain a high level of customer service when assisting employees with technical needs. Manage all employee software and logins for security, while tracking seat counts and renewal dates to ensure company has the right number of active licenses for its needs.
- Hardware & Asset Management: Maintain inventory and tracking of all company IT hardware and related equipment. Manage the lifecycle of IT assets including procurement coordination, deployment, upgrades, and retirement. Ensure devices are updated and compliant with company cybersecurity and IT policies. Coordinate repairs, replacements, and warranty support for company equipment. Manage the upkeep and maintenance of security cameras and IP phone systems.
- Managed IT Provider Coordination: Serve as the on-site liaison and "smart hands" for Fraser Industries' managed IT service provider. Assist with troubleshooting, equipment swaps, and physical access to network or server equipment as needed. Coordinate with the IT provider on system maintenance, backups, network security, and infrastructure improvements. Escalate and track technical issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance Support: Assist in maintaining cybersecurity practices aligned with CMMC Level 1 requirements. Support organizational efforts to progress toward CMMC Level 2 compliance. Maintain required documentation related to cybersecurity controls and security monitoring. Support secure handling and protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Assist with internal compliance reviews and audit preparation. Promote cybersecurity awareness and assist with basic user security training.
Required Skills and Abilities

• Regular interaction with employees and departments across Fraser Industries' operating companies.
Qualifications
- 4–5 years of IT support or technical support experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows operating systems
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Basic networking fundamentals
- Endpoint security tools and system updates
- Experience working with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) is preferred.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with NIST 800-171 or CMMC compliance frameworks is a plus.
- Able to pass a pre-employment Background Check, Motor Vehicle Report, and Alcohol and Drug Test.
Physical Requirements
Generally, this position works in a traditional office environment within an active shipyard. Moderate noise and/or vibration may be common, and the incumbent will regularly be near heavy equipment or work locations. In order to successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position, the incumbent must: be able to walk for moderate periods of time over even and uneven terrain; occasionally climb up steep stairs/steps; reach forward, overhead, and to the sides; crouch; push and pull up to 25lbs; see clearly and in color; hear and speak clearly; and use their fingers to feel, touch, and manipulate objects.
