Description\n
American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a Critical Access Emergency Department requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details\n
- \n
- Critical Access Emergency Department with 5 beds, including 2 trauma bays
- Separate triage area staffed by traveler; holds are intermixed and cared for by ER nurses
- Treats approximately 20 patients per day, primarily adults and geriatrics with some pediatric cases
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and abdominal pain
- RN staffing ratio is 1 RN on days, 1 RN on nights, and 1 mid-shift RN (11:00-23:30)
- Common drips include cardiac drips, insulin, nitro, heparin, and antibiotics
- RNs perform breathing treatments, ABGs, and EKGs as RT is not in-house
- CRNAs manage intubation and sedation
- X-Ray and CT available in-house 24/7
- RNs generally draw labs off IV starts; phlebotomy assists as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts on a block schedule with set rotation
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required if it falls on scheduled rotation
- May float to acute care to assist with patients or answer call lights when ER is not busy

Requirements\n

- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or ATCN
- NRP certification preferred
- Must be able to work independently in a high-stress environment
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry/monitor readings

- Charge nurse is shared with inpatient unit and assists in the ER when busy
- No nurse aides for general care; EMTs assist only when bringing in a code
- ED coverage includes a Mid-Level provider with MD/DO backup on call
- Department-specific orientation is 1 day, with additional time available if needed
- Scrubs may be any color
