Position OverviewWe are seeking a Field Process Engineer to support hands-on engineering work in water and wastewater treatment research and field testing. This role involves operating pilot systems, conducting lab testing, supporting on-site evaluations, and contributing to the development and optimization of treatment technologies.The ideal candidate is self-motivated, mechanically inclined, technically curious, and comfortable working across both field and laboratory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot pilot testing equipment (pumps, mixers, valves, sensors, control systems, chemical delivery systems)
- Design, build, and operate bench-scale and pilot-scale test setups
- Conduct water and wastewater testing in both laboratory and field settings
- Support system start-ups, commissioning, and performance testing
- Manage assigned testing projects from planning through execution
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and operating manuals
- Train and support internal teams or customers on pilot system operation
- Communicate test results and technical findings to engineering and business teams
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
(Environmental or Chemical preferred; Mechanical or Electrical considered) - Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Strong technical writing, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Willingness to work with mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Comfortable using hand and power tools for equipment service
- Ability to travel up to 25% (NY, CA, and OH)
Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory experience with water analysis and standard testing methods
- Up to two years of experience in water or wastewater treatment
- Knowledge of biological wastewater treatment processes
(activated sludge experience is a plus)
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Work performed in a combination of office, laboratory, and field environments
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and equipment handling required
