Summary
The NPI Engineer-BOM Specialist will be responsible for overall Bill of Material (BOM) management. This position includes material cost maintenance, periodic BOM accuracy audits, management of BOM changes and working with cross-functional teams to coordinate BOM related activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Creates and maintains Item Masters and Bills of Materials into our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
· Translates information from engineering drawings into multi-level Bills of Material in our ERP system to support order management, manufacturing, material requirements, and costs.
· Performs BOM validation at the time of Prototype completion and Production release.
· Assists in the cost analysis, performs and maintains material cost roll ups and troubleshooting of BOM costs.
· Develops and maintains part numbers, records, and documentation of Prototype materials.
· Reviews and performs Engineering changes ECR, ECO to update BOM’s as necessary using ERP system.
· Collaborates with the Product Design, Sales, Production and Supply Chain teams on Product Lifecycle Management of sub-assemblies and parts.
· Collaborates with members of the production and product design teams to ensure documentation matches the production configuration on the assembly line.
· Perform routine Engineering BOM vs. actual build audits, communicate errors to appropriate personnel, and update necessary information.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Purchasing, Inventory, Sales, Production, IT and QA teams to ensure data integrity.
· Mentors new coworkers and other departments to ensure a high degree of data integrity
· Supports Suppliers and Customers on BOM related requests.
· Assists on other NPI activities as needed.
Requirements:Education & Experience
· BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or similar.
· Must have 2 or more years of experience managing BOMs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Experience managing Bill of Materials structure and ability to create parts list from Bill of Materials
· Knowledgeable with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. QAD a plus but not required.
· This position requires a proactive and problem-solving mindset, and the ability to pro-actively tackle challenges while managing details in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Capability to review and provide feedback on 3d models and electrical schematics.
· Familiar with SolidWorks a plus but not required.
· Knowledge in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
· Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods.
